I'll revise parts of this manual as I find changes. I'll note anything that seems to be unique to Poser Pro 11. The Official Guide, by Richard Schrand, even though Poser 8 would seem to be several iterations behind Poser Pro 2014, and even farther behind Poser Pro 11 which I started using (occasionally) in December Most of the information in this Manual is based on my experiences with Poser Pro 20, and probably still holds true for Poser Pro 11. So here are the results from experimenting, reading Poser Pro 2012 Reference Manual, Poser Pro 2014 Reference Manual, Poser Pro 11 Reference Manual, Smith Micro Tech Support, and internet research. You don't need to install DAZ Studio 4, in this case, you can simply create the above folder hierarchy directly on your hard drive and then use 'My Library' as the target folder. You may not have the full above path if you have not actually installed DAZ Studio 4. * If you are not sure about what folder to use, then we recommend you use the default install path for content for use in DAZ Studio 4:Ĭ:/Users//Documents/ DAZ 3D/Studio/My Library Do not install DAZ 3D content to the 'Downloads' folder. If you use target the 'Downloads' folder, the files will *not* be created in the right hierarchy and will not work correctly Poser. Since the DAZ Content installer creates or uses the existing 'runtime' folder inside the target folder, you can never expect DAZ 3D content to be found in the 'downloads' folder. * Do not target the 'downloads' folder that is inside of Poser. * You must never use the 'runtime' folder as the target folder when you install DAZ 3D content. I could have called the 'content' 'my content' instead. When you target it with a DAZ 3D content installer, you'll find a runtime folder inside of it like this:Īs you can see above, the 'content' folder is holding the 'runtime' folder. If you target the runtime folder itself, the files will *not* be created in the correct hierarchy and the content will not work.įor example, you could make a folder here: To repeat, DAZ 3D content installers must be directed to the folder *holding* the runtime. This is different from other content manufacturers. For example, if you choose to create a folder called 'content' and target it with the DAZ 3D installer, you will find a folder inside of it called 'runtime.' You can then add this 'runtime' folder in your Library Panel in Poser. This is a really basic principle that cannot be avoided. * The DAZ 3D content installer needs to target the folder holding the runtime. * The target folder must be *outside* of the Program Files folder (includes Program Files (x86)), if you are using Windows Vista or Windows 7.
